Crime prevention initiatives

The Liquor Licensing Division has a key role in the Queensland Government’s efforts to curtail violence in licensed premises and other public places. This includes the 17-point Brisbane City Safety Action Plan which was released by Premier Peter Beattie on 1 March 2005.

In addition, many activities are underway throughout the State where licensed venue operators, regulatory authorities (including Queensland Police and local councils) and the community are working together to reduce intoxication and violence in licensed premises.

These groups are known as "Liquor Industry Action Groups” (LIAGs). The Division is supportive of the development of such associations and a number of them are in operation throughout the State.

To join a local group, or to establish your own group to address liquor licensing issues in your community, please contact your local Liquor Licensing Division Office for assistance.
